‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ to End With Season 2, December Release Date Set at Netflix (EXCLUSIVE)
The animated series “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” will end with Season 2 at Netflix, Variety has learned exclusively.
The second season of the Legendary Television series will debut on Dec. 11. The show originally premiered in October 2024 and was renewed soon after, though it was not confirmed that Season 2 would be the final season until now.
The official logline for Season 2 states:
“When adventurer Lara Croft (voiced by Hayley Atwell) discovers a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, she joins forces with her best friend Sam (Karen Fukuhara) to retrieve the precious artifacts. Lara’s thrilling new adventure takes her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodging the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.”
The cast of the series also includes O-T Fagbenle as Eshu, Allen Maldonado as Zip, and Earl Baylon as Jonah Maiava.
Legendary TV is the studio behind the series. The show is executive produced and written by Tasha Huo. Additional executive producers include: Story Kitchen co-founders, Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg, along with Timothy I. Stevenson; Jacob Robinson under his company Tractor Pants; Dallas Dickinson and Noah Hughes for Crystal Dynamics; and Jen Chambers. Powerhouse Animation is the animation studio, with Brad Graeber serving as executive producer.
This is the second piece of “Tomb Raider” series news to be announced in recent days. Previously, it was reported that Amazon had set a production start date for Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s long-gestating “Tomb Raider” live-action series at Prime Video, with Sophie Turner confirmed for the role of Lara Croft. Both Story Kitchen and Crystal Dynamics are also involved in the live-action series.
